Mick Jagger - IX - Digital Download

Andy Warhol's Mick Jagger IX captures the Rolling Stones frontman bare-chested and unmistakably himself, rendered through Warhol's signature screenprint language of 1975. Irregular blocks of cyan, magenta, yellow, and flesh tone collide against black linework, giving this portrait painting the collaged, hand-cut feel of torn paper even though every edge is printed. It is a striking piece of pop art that trades Warhol's earlier flat repetition for something looser and more expressive, hinting at his growing pull toward abstract art in the years that followed.
