Portrait Of George Dyer - Digital Download

Francis Bacon's 1971 Portrait of George Dyer is a searing example of the artist's raw, expressive portrait painting - a face pulled apart by smeared flesh tones, deep blacks, and jolts of blue, yellow, and red. Painted in the wake of Dyer's death, this faceless portrait channels grief into distorted form, capturing a tormented, melancholic mood that still feels startlingly modern nearly fifty years later. It is dark art in the truest sense, more emotional excavation than likeness.
