Edo Period Bird Umbrella Study
Ito Jakuchu's playful spirit comes alive in this whimsical umbrella yokai print, where two karakuri parasols peer out with wide, curious eyes atop bamboo poles. Rendered in warm cream, terracotta, and charcoal ink lines against an aged paper background, the piece captures the mischievous, animated character so beloved in Edo period folklore. Delicate calligraphy and a hand-carved-style seal complete the traditional japanese composition.
This playful woodblock print brings a lighthearted charm to living room walls, reading nooks, or eclectic gallery corners, and makes a wonderful house warming gift for lovers of japanese art and folklore. Anyone drawn to ukiyo e wall art or classic ink wash painting will appreciate its quirky character alongside asian wall art collections.
